Indian Air Force has entered into an agreement with the state owned telecom co’s as per which both MTNL & BSNL would be providing the whole range of telecom service to Indian Air Force & the IAF would allow them to install Towers & Other equipments at IAF’s properties across India. Also as per the agreement MTNL & BSNL will get the “Most Preferred Service Provider” status by the Indian Air Force.
The telecom services will also include CUG – Closed User Group Facility, value added services on mobile and landline phones, optic fiber connectivity etc.
As per BSNL, “The objective is to enable BSNL and MTNL to provide IAF full gamut of telecom services, including basic telephony, mobile telephony, broadband services, internet services and leased lines, MPLS-VPN and VSAT services, on concessional tariff.”
The joint agreement will also help MTNL & BSNL to synchronise their operations as DoT is already examining the possibility of merger of BSNL with MTNL & ITI to turn all the loss making PSU.
