The largest Pan India Mobile operator, Bharti Airtel, has announced the launch of the its commercial Mobile Service in the Kargil District making it the first Private operator to offer any such service in one of the toughest regions of India. Also with this launch, Bharti Airtel has now presence in all 22 Districts of the State of Jammu an Kashmir.
Given the harsh weather conditions and rough terrains of Kargil, Airtel used VSAT links and specially designed telecom infrastructure which can be modified as per the need during any bad weather condition for keeping the people of the Kargil connected with the rest of India. Till recently during the Winters, Kargil used to stay isolated in terms of connectivity from other parts of the country.
Here is what Mr. Jagbir Singh, Director for Network Services, Bharti Airtel Group, had to say, “District Kargil is known for its inclement weather conditions and remains cut off from the rest of the country for more than 6 months. We are pleased to have the network deployment that will allow the natives and tourists to stay connected. At Airtel, it is our constant endeavour to provide superior user experience to our customers by seamlessly connecting them wherever they go.”
