Starting with Airtel, the Roaming Free Plan for prepaid customer starts at Rs. 5 for a day of Roaming Free. For a monthly package one would have to shell out Rs. 79 to enjoy Free Incoming Calls all month long. Once subscribed you Home & Roam Network calls would be charged at flat 1.5p/sec for all outgoing calls.
But any existing tariff/discounted rate will continue to work as long as it is lower than 1.5p/sec for outgoing calls. Mins pack, SMS pack and data pack will continue as usual. They will not get impacted by these recharges. These packs will not work while you are on roaming. For more details, visit Airtel’s Website here.
For Airtel’s Daily Roaming Free Plan i.e. Rs. 5/day Plan, you need to send sms ROAM to 121 or you can dial *121*1# now and follow the instructions, but Monthly Plan you will have to recharge your Airtel Mobile by Rs. 79 (click here to recharge).
Similarly, Idea too went ahead and announced Free Roaming Plans for prepaid customers only. Idea have two plans for its costumes, one offering absolutely FREE Incoming Calls on Roaming and other offering discounted Incoming Calls at 75p/min.
The plan that offers All Incoming Calls in Roaming Free has been priced between Rs. 230-240 (as per the circle) and have a validity of 6 months. The other plan that will be offering incoming calls at 75p/min has been priced between Rs. 35-40 (depending upon the circle) and comes with a validity of a month only.
As of now only Airtel and Idea have announced such Free Roaming Plan but they are definitely not cheap for not so frequent travellers. Aircel is already offering such plans so we are not expecting any such announcement by them. Reliance, few days back started promotional Roaming Free Packs but they’re limited to few circles only, they might extend the same plan in other circles too.
