Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has decided to revise its SMS Packs for prepaid customers across India. With this revision, BSNL’s SMS Tariffs would now be at par with tariffs charged by its competitors. Also along with revising the existing SMS Packs, BSNL has introduced a new SMS pack priced at Rs. 147.

Till now BSNL is offering SMS Packs that do not offer number of SMS or Free SMS even after spending like Rs. 83. But with effect from 15th August, 2013, BSNL’s revised SMS packs would offer FREE SMS as per the packs chosen instead of charging per SMS basis.

As of now BSNL’s SMS packs offer Local & National SMS on BSNL numbers at 0.5p per SMS and Local & National SMS on other than BSNL number are charged at 10p per SMS even after spending Rs. 50-80 per month. But with the latest revision BSNL SMS packs priced at Rs. 12, 24, 31, 52 & Rs. 83 would offer 130, 265, 385, 860 & 1650 Local & National SMS respectively with different validity options.

Also BSNL has introduced a new SMS Pack priced at Rs. 147 that would offer 3000 Local & National SMS with a validity of 60 days. Here is the snapshot showing the latest revision:

In case you are about to recharge your BSNL number for availing SMS service, you can wait for few days to avail the new benefits as these would be applicable from 15th August, 2013 only. Further as per TRAI’s order, one can send maximum 100 SMS at discounted rates after which regular tariff is applicable.
