Results are out – India’s 2G Spectrum Auction ends with a disappointment in just 2 days


The much talked and hyped 2G Spectrum Auction in India came to a disappointing end for both the Government and the mobile phone users as some of the existing telecom license holders whose license were cancelled by the Supreme Court in February this year failed to win the spectrum in some circles and Government of India could get just 9,047 crores, way less than it expected. MTS India files curative plea in Apex Court & Loop Telecom too sends notice to Indian Government


Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited, the parent company of the MTS in India, has filed curative plea to set aside the Supreme Court order cancelling its license in 21 circle. This move comes after the Supreme Court rejected the Review Petition filed by all the aggrieved parties in the 2G license cancelling verdict announced in February. (Continue Reading…)


Supreme Court gives more time for Fresh 2G Auctions to the Government


The Supreme Court of India has extended the time the deadline for 2G Spectrum Auction to 31st August, a relief to many of the operator whose license stand cancelled after the historic decision of the Supreme Court earlier this year.

Now all the telecom operators would be able to continue till 7th September after which the 2G the existing licences for 2G spectrum shall become non operational. (Continue Reading…)


TRAI proposes a steep hike in 2G Spectrum among many other recommendations


Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has today announced its Recommendation on Auction of Spectrum proposing a base price of Rs. 3622.18 crores for the All India 2G Spectrum in 1800 Mhz which is higher than the base price set for the 3G Auctions in 2010. Where as the spectrum in 900 Spectrum shall cost an upward of Rs. 7244.36 crores as per these recommendation.  This steep hike in the base price is a big blow to the operators whose licenses were cancelled in February this year and to the existing operators as well. Government, A Raja & Telecom Companies file Review Petition in the Supreme Court


The Government of India, Former Telecom Minister, MTS, Uninor & Videocon has filed the review petition in the Supreme Court of India. As per law, you can file review petition only within a month of announcement of the judgement. The scope of the judgement is so vast that it took almost a month for them to file the review petition.  (Continue Reading…)


Sistema (MTS) wants the 2G issue to be resolved within 6 months, send official Notice to Government of India


On 2nd of February this year, the Supreme Court of India announced a historic decision cancelling 122 Telecom Licenses affecting at most 8 companies (2 of them have already decided to QUIT India), several crores of investment made by such companies along with direct & indirect impact on employment of several individuals across India.
