MTNL launches Fibre to the Home, 1000Mbps Broadband Service

MTNL, the state run PSU Telecom Operator, has today announced the launch of Fibre to the Home(FTTH) Broadband Service offering speed of upto 10 Gbps in Mumbai. MTNL Fibre to the Home Broadband Service will be launched in Delhi from 1st May, 2011. With the launch of FTTH technology, MTNL will offer High Speed Broadband Service of upto 10 Gbps and world class Triple Play (voice-video-data) services like IPTV, HDTV, 3DTV,  Bandwidth on Demand, Video conferencing , Gaming and other interesting VAS which can be possible with the help of FTTH only.

FTTH (fiber to the home) is a form of fiber optic communication delivery in which the fiber extends from the central office to the subscriber’s living or working space. Once at the subscriber’s living or working space, the signal may be conveyed throughout the space using any means, including twisted pair, coaxial cable, wireless, power line communication, or optical fiber.

The FTTH Broadband Plans start at Rs. 649 per month. Also the Installation & Security Deposit is Rs. 1500 initially.
