Mercury brings Operator Free 3G Dongle with Wi-Fi Hotspot

Kobian, the name behind Mercury products, has launched two 3G USB Dongles starting at Rs. 1,899 that can offer download speeds of up to HSDPA 7.2 Mbps & upload speed of up to HSUPA 5.2 Mbps supporting both 2100Mhz & 900 Mhz frequencies. Among the 2 new dongles, one has a Wi-Fi router as well that can connect up to 6 devices creating a Wi-Fi hotspot.

The 3G USB Dongle priced at Rs. 1899 is an operator free universal dongle that will work with any operator. The other Dongle cum Router is priced at Rs. 2,999 that offers the benefits of both a dongle & a Wi-Fi Routerthereby giving simultaneous access to no. of devices. This also is a operator open Dongle that supports any operator. This is by far a cheapest Dongle cum Router available in India as of now.

Both the Dongle works well with a frequency bands of 7.2 Mbps HSDPA downlink and 5.6 Mbps HSUPA uplink with a dual band of 2100/900 MHz. Also they support GPRS/EDGE under the 850/900/1800/1900 MHz 2G bands and with network standards of IEEE 802.1 b/g/n at an operating frequency of 2.4 GHz.

Telecom Operators such as Tata Docomo & Vodafone also offers 3G Dongle cum Router but they are locked to their network and they are also costly starting from about Rs. 3500.
