Forget 3G, 4G will come to India soon

All the telecom operators in India are still busy with their 3G launches and they are still not able to see the real 3G impact, the other technology players are hopeful that the more advanced 4G will be here soon. 4G has an advantage over 3G in terms of economics as well as its easy upgradability on the existing infrastructure.

In the words of Mr.  Nikhil Sadarangani of JDSU India, a provider of optical products and solutions, “The 4G is likely to be in India sooner than later, as early as next year, because it is economically more advantageous than 3G , apart as it can be easily upgraded on the existing infrastructure, its introduction in mobile handsets will depend on devices that are economical.”

Mr. Sadarangani is so optimistic about its roll out that he further said that 4G application trials are likely to rolled out by next year as the technology is already here.

Then Mr Mrinmoy Purkayastha the Tata Elxsi sales head, communications business, noted that the pace of technological advancement is very fast in the country. “With speed as a consideration, 4G will be introduced here in a phased manner from the next year. However, its transition from data services to mobile handsets may take some more time but by 2014-15 it is likely to become a reality,” he said.

4G has already been implemented in countries like the US, Norway, Sweden and UK. The 4G succes would depend much on the Handset Compatibility among other issues.
