Airtel & Vodafone reduces the 2G Data/GPRS charges by upto 90%

Tariff HikeVodafone India has yesterday announced the reduction the default charges for 2G Data/GPRS customers by up to 80%. And within a day of such announcement by Vodafone, Airtel too announced the same reduction by about 90% for its customers. But this reduction will not have any affect on many of us as this reduction is for default charges.

Vodafone yesterday announced reduction in default data charges to 2p/10kb from 10p/10kb for both prepaid and postpaid customers. There is no change is any pack rates or price rather Vodafone has just reduced the charges for non Data Pack/Plan subscribers or you can say Pay As You Go customers who do not subscribe to any data pack and uses the internet on their phones. As of now this reduction is for Karnataka, UP West and Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh circles only and will be gradually rolled to other states as well.

Just after Vodafone’s announcement, Airtel too announced reduction in same default data charges for 2G customers by 90%, there by reducing the default charges now to 1p/10kb from earlier 10p/10kb. Airtel’s reduction is valid for just Punjab and Haryana circle and that too for prepaid customers only. The reduction is however valid only for Rs. Rs 22, Rs 25 and Rs 125 Data Packs and also these packs would now come with increased validity of 30 days, 30 days and 90 days respectively.
