airtel ,Vodafone & Idea come together to share 3G airwaves

If you are a Idea subscriber in Delhi & was upset with Idea not getting 3G spectrum for Delhi, we have a good new for you. According to the news doing the rounds of the telecom industry Bharti airtel, Vodafone & Idea Cellular have come together to share their 3G spectrum with one-another. Well it means these three operators would be sharing each other’s 3G airwaves to offer 3G services to their subscribers in the circles they don’t have 3G spectrum. For eg,  through this agreement Idea would be able to offer 3G services to its subscriber in Delhi even tough Idea was unable to win spectrum for Delhi.

“It [the pact] is almost in the final stages; just the details need to be worked out,” said the person with direct knowledge of the matter, declining to be named ahead of a formal announcement.

Bharti airtel has licenses and radio bandwidth to offer third-generation services in 13 service areas, while Idea holds licenses for 11 service areas and Vodafone Essar can offer the services in nine areas.

This is the second time these operators have come together formally to share each other’s resources after their successful joint venture in tower sharing business, Indus Towers.
